Grimsby Arts Walk - Artist Application Form

 

To commemorate Grimsby’s 100th year we are excited to announce the inaugural Grimsby Arts Walk happening on September 24, 2022. 

This will be an annual juried art festival. Visitors will walk through vendor areas staged throughout the downtown from Nelles Manor and Grimsby Museum on the west through Coronation Park and ending at Carnegie Building and the Grimsby Public Art Gallery on the east side of downtown.

 Who can apply?

All artists and artisans are welcome to submit their application for the juried show. Your work will be juried for quality and to ensure that a wide variety of mediums will be showcased, and all artwork submitted to the jury must be for sale.

Grimsby Arts Walk juror’s welcome individual artists and artisans, working in all mediums; painting, photography, sculpture, glass, woodturning, textiles, jewellery and more, with formal or informal training to apply. Artists are encouraged to submit artwork created within the last three years. Established and emerging artists are welcome.

Grimsby Arts Walk accepts 80% original artworks and 20% may be reproductions such as giclée or limited-edition prints.

The fee of $25 (plus HST) as well as a service fee will be charged if approved. A service fee of 2.50% of the amount paid is levied by Paymentus for each transaction. Please note, the Town of Grimsby does not receive any part of the service fee.

Participation Policies:

  • Applications from artists working in fine art & craft will be accepted for jury.
  • ONLY original work in design and concept by the artist(s) signing this agreement is allowed and must be for sale.
  • Artists may only occupy booth space assigned to them. Artists may share a booth, with a limit of three artists per 10x10 ' booth.
  • Reproductions (including giclée) of an artist’s original work displayed on walls or panels must not comprise more than 40% of exhibited work; must be clearly & individually labeled, signed, numbered & part of a limited-edition series.
  • Photography: 75% must be signed and numbered in series of no more than 250.
  • Jewellery: Jewellers must be the designers & hands-on makers of original work.
  • Prohibited: agents, dealers, imports, works created from kits, art supplies, buy/sell items, patterns, embellished commercial products, and mass-produced works.
  • Artists must display ‘family-friendly’ images. Final interpretation of acceptable work will be made by the jury committee, which reserves the right to remove work deemed unsuitable for display or misrepresented by the application or expel an exhibitor without refund who breaks these rules.
  • Artists are to exhibit on the day of the event rain or shine.
  • Name(s) of the artist(s) on this application is/are required to attend the booth & be present for all of the advertised hours.
  • All proceeds from sales belong to the artist, along with the responsibility to set-up, break down, and to collect/report sales tax.
  • Art demonstrations are encouraged.
  • Pets are not allowed, except for service animals.
  • Alcoholic beverages prohibited.
  • We reserve the right to change policies.
  • Town of Grimsby takes no liability for damaged, lost, or stolen art.

SET-UP:

  • Check-in begins Saturday, 7:30 a.m.
  • Set-up must be completed by 10:00 a.m.
  • No setup until vehicle is fully unloaded & moved to designated parking area (to be determined).
  • Your booth display must be professional & aesthetically pleasing, and must not exceed your assigned space.
  • It is your responsibility to adequately stake and weight your tent against wind gusts/weather.
  • You must be checked-in by 9:00 a.m. or your space may be reassigned and your fees forfeited.

BREAK DOWN:

  • Artists may not break down their booth until the event ends at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
  • All refuse must be properly disposed of at the end of the day.
  • Do not leave behind any articles that were used in your display.
  • You must leave a clean footprint.

BOOTH SPACE:

  • Marked, numbered, & measure 3 m x 3 m deep (10’ x 10’ deep)
  • Artists are responsible for required tent, booth design, contents, and weights.
  • Electricity is not provided.

 CANCELLATION POLICY: NO REFUNDS. An accepted application is considered a commitment to show.

Grimsby Arts Walk accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to any vendor's property exhibited at the event. Artists are encouraged to provided their own insurance if necessary. Submission of the entry form constitutes permission to have one's image photographed for publicity purposes.
